Project Outcomes

The outcomes that partners want to achieve by the end of the duration of the CUSTOM MED project are the following:

  • Have created a common tool to swap options and, at a second stage, to promote joint work.
  • Several guidelines of customs procedures available nowadays, should be gathered in order to define only one group of standard procedures.
  • Let there be a system of information management to coordinate customs documents, and a creation of databases and ICT systems for access control of goods, loading / unloading.

Such ICT systems will have been tailor-made according to the local background of Lebanon and Jordan, and will be updated in the medium/long term in compliance with acceptable financial solutions. However, the information will be treated in a manner compatible with the systems used in the EU, in order to interact with other countries in the future.

  • Improvement of communications and understanding among involved parties, thanks to the improvement of the customs rules with emerging methodologies and best practices.
  • Disseminate, adopt and apply common rules, share and harmonize technical ones, and put into action administrative standard procedures thanks to a permanent focus group.

The expected overall result is take a step further in elimination of problems between Jordan and Lebanon.
